Congratulations to Durham West Lightning Peewee BB, Champions of the Whitby Tournament of Heroes (Dec 4-6th)! Lightning came ready and focused, as they arrived at the rink on Friday. The girls played Whitby Wolves and won 1-0. Later that afternoon, the team defeated Kingston Ice Wolves 2-1. On Saturday, Lightning played hard but unfortunately came up short against Etobicoke Dolphins and lost 2-1. After finishing the round robin in first overall in the Peewee BB division consisting of 6 teams, Durham West Lightning skipped the semi-final game and went straight to the championship final game!
Lightning faced Whitby Wolves again in the championship game and emerged victorious in the 1-0 game. Lightning scored the winning goal during the second period and the team worked hard to keep the lead until the final buzzer to win Gold!

In June 2007, DWGHA received a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation in the amount of $41,500. DWGHA is grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their support. The budget includes funds specifially earmarked for the purchase of association goalie equipment, select jerseys and socks, coaching staff training and development, team practice equipment.
