On Dec 23rd, the Durham Junior Lightning hosted their annual Alumni Game and once again it was a fun evening filled with former players, the current Junior team, and even some Midget call-ups to round out both rosters.

Durham players from many U.S. and Canadian rosters came to play as well as a number of Alumni who have completed their university careers. It was wonderful to see players from Canadian National teams skating back on their 'home' ice and enjoying being, once again, a part of their hockey roots.

The teams played in front of an enthusiastic crowd, made up of current and former player parents and friends. It was great to see the girls greet players they are now competing against and play a "friendly" while clearly enjoying the game.

Team banners recognizing  all of Durham West's graduates were displayed and some were able to view them for the first time. This year's event drew players from the University of Toronto, Clarkson, Providence,  Ohio State, Princeton University, RPI, UCONN, UNH and Bemidji State, just to name a few. Appologies to any that I may have missed! Seeing what Durham players have achieved over the years is truly amazing, as well as an inspiration to our current and future players.
